Captain Nathan Algren, a troubled American military officer, is hired by the Japanese government to train their new modern army. The goal is to suppress a rebellion led by traditional samurai warriors who oppose modernization.
The samurai are led by Katsumoto, a noble and disciplined warrior who believes in preserving Japan’s ancient traditions.
